Worst tanks

Since we had the topic about ships, I figured, let's look at the ground side of things. Preferably stuff that at the very least made it into production, because stuff that was obviously an epic fail even in testing (*cough*Valiant*cough*) is too easy.

So my nomination to start things going is: how about a tank that epically failed at the only reason to be a tank in the first place? Yep, the WW1 era A7V.

Now the A7V actually did reasonably well, when the ground was relatively even and hard enough. It's just when it was muddy and cratered, that it tended to get its front stuck in the mud. Also, it had a problem with slopes.

BUT if you think about it, the only reason one needed tanks in WW1 in the first place was to deal with the mud and cratered or dug ground. Otherwise, on good terrain, since you only needed it to resist an infantry rifle round (or MG, same calibre generally) you could just use an armoured car. Which they did. It was only the stalemate in the mud that prompted the need for something with low enough ground pressure to traverse it.

So I'm not picking on the A7V for its size (everyone dreamed big in WW1, even the Italians:p) or cost or ridiculous crew size. I'm picking on it for failing at the one single job it had, in order to be a tank and not a much cheaper armoured car. If there ever was a case for a "you had one job" meme for tanks, IMHO this would be the tank to go on that picture.
