Did John Wilkes Booth really die at Garrett's Barn?

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I'm a regular contributor to the writers' advocate site AbsoluteWrite and recently came across a pamphlet-length book by Allison Bruning, owner of Marfa House Publishing, entitled Who is the Real John Wilkes Booth?

She follows the lead of one Nate Orlowek in claiming that Booth lived until 1903 under the name of David E. George. According to Bruning, who first heard of it on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries, "Unfortunately, many historians seem to be more concerned about preserving their reputations than they are about finding out the truth". Yep - historians all close ranks to prevent new and exciting facts leaking out!

I'd never heard of this theory before and from what I can gather if sounds like standard pseudo-historical claptrap of the kind surrounding the Kennedy assassination, but I'd be interested to know if anyone here has come across it.
