Of course, this disaster movie isn't about Blue Estate. It's about a different and entirely fictional luxury floating island that happens to have all the same features. Including a liquid hydrogen energy storage system (just the thing you want to live on top of when you're 250 miles off the coast), meters-thick outer walls that couldn't possibly be damaged by collision with even the largest ship, modular construction that makes it totally unsinkable, a no-weapons policy, and a range of accommodations—from windowless interior twenty square meter apartments borrowed from your favorite futuristic SF dystopia, to enormous architecturally unique estates at the top levels costing billions of dollars, also borrowed from your favorite futuristic SF dystopia.
Here's the mandatory-for-all-modern-disaster-movies opening scene:
EXTERIOR. VIEWING DECK OF THE FAST FERRY SHIP "SEA SWALLOW." ––DAYTIME.
The AZURE HEAVEN floating island looms up from the horizon, seen side-on as the ferry approaches. Among many other eager passengers, JACK, BILLY, and LOUISE stand at the rail, watching.
JACK
Look, kids! Our new home!
BILLY
But I want to live with Mom!
LOUISE
Waah! I miss Mom too!
JACK
You know your Mom and I don't get along any more. And anyhow, she's much too busy in her new job leading the Elite Long-Range Airborn Marine Rescue Operations Detachment to take care of you now.
