Do countries other than the USA do "stimulus checks"?

I wasn't sure which forum to put this in. It's about comparing how we do things in the USA versus the rest of the world. I decided to put it here because I primarily want input from non-USAians.

Periodically, politicians in the US decide that it's a good idea to give out "economic stimulus payments". Simply put, the government gives everyone, or nearly everyone, money.

The first time I remember such a thing was in the early 2000s and George W. Bush gave us some "tax relief" in the form of a check mailed to every eligible home, and almost all homes were eligible. With the pandemic, it has really gone to extremes. We got 1200 hundred dollars each back last spring. Then we got another 600 a month or two ago. Now the new President is promising us 1400 dollars more. Some restrictions apply. If you made too much money you don't get them. They are arguing over how much is too much, but most people will get checks.

So, it's just very simple. Government sends people a check. No catch. Just money.

It occurred to me that I've never seen a news story about anything similar anywhere else in the world. Does it happen? If not, are voters reading stories about the USA and saying it's a good idea? How do we compare?
