Glad You Are Living In A Time When Religion Is Not Compulsory.

Of the many books I have read pointing out the shortcomings of Christianity, the one I found the most damning is just a history book. The book: "A History of Christianity" by Diarmaid MacCulloch tells most graphically the story of Christianity from before its beginning.

Ordinary folk just didn't have a chance to make up their own minds, about what particular brand of tosh they had to believe. As schism followed schism throughout its history, the Clergy who where true to the favoured version at the time, told them what to believe - and they had absolute power.

The fictional tale: "The Pillars Of The Earth" by Ken Follett gives an excellent picture of what it was like to live during part of this time. I thank God I didn't live in those times.
