The Mutt and Jeff method of police interrogation

My father and his friend had a method of questioning a suspect. My father was Jeff the nice cop and Jack Finklebaum was Mutt the bad cop. Mutt was a frightening police officer who was originally a European Jewish guy. His accent was scary when he was acting angry and when he got through the suspect was often in tears. Then it was my father's turn. He was kind and he was often able to dig the truth out of the suspect. One thing he did was let the perp hang him or herself. If he had fingerprint evidence he would often let the suspect lie a lot then spring the evidence on him or her. It was very intimidating.

He was wearing his slapjack but he never used it. The very presence of this weapon was enough to scare even the toughest felons.

Jeff was my father Boyd Beynon and Mutt was Jack Finklebaum and together they always got their man and never once in their careers did they get an innocent man convicted. They could also get an innocent person off the hook.
