Chevron brings private prosecution against lawyer in pollution case

A new tactic in the battle between ghoulish mega-corporations and their victims.

Chevron recently lost a multi-billion pollution case in Ecuador filed by indigenous locals who's lands were contaminated by deliberate petrochemical waste dumping.

Now the lawyer that represented the Ecuadorians is facing private prosecution in New York, where Chevron's private prosecutor has hand-picked a corporation friendly judge to preside.

The lawyer, Steven Donziger, has been on house arrest since August with an ankle monitor. The judge in the case had ordered him to turn over his computer for discover, which Donziger refused citing attorney-client privileged communications while filing an appeal.


It's an absurd tale of the sheer power these mega-corporations have to abuse the court systems and crush opposition.
