When I was 23 my girlfriend called and asked if I would help with her sick four-year-old sister. The child was weak with chills and fever and it looked bad. The year was 1970 and in those days the fact that aspirin was not good for children was unknown or not widely known.
I gave the child aspirin with cold water and I kept putting cold cloths on her forehead. Had this been my child I would have taken her to the hospital.
The child recovered but after I learned the health negatives of giving children aspirin I wonder what other fever reducers I could have given her?
