Wisconsin girl missing for three months escapes, leads police to kidnapper

13-year-old Jayme Closs, who has been missing since October when both of her parents were found murdered in their home in Barron, Wisconsin, was rescued yesterday after escaping from her abductor's cabin in a wooded area near Gordon, a rural town some 70 miles or so from Barron.

The lady who found her, who had been out walking her dog at the time, said Closs emerged from the woods and described her as dirty and thin, with matted hair and wearing "shoes too big for her feet". Closs reportedly did not know where she was, but said she believed she had been at this particular location for "most of the time" since her abduction. She apparently took an opportunity to flee when her kidnapper had left the cabin for some reason, and she was able to provide police with a description of his vehicle. The suspect was found very quickly and arrested.

The kidnapper is being charged with two counts of murder and one of kidnapping. According to police he acted alone, and killed the Closses specifically to serve the aim of abducting Jayme, although they've also said that he is not believed to have been known by or had any contact with the Closs family prior to the home invasion.
