‘‘(36) The term ‘semiautomatic assault weapon’ means any of the following, regardless of country of manufacture or caliber of ammunition accepted: ‘‘(A) A semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any 1 of the following: ‘‘(i) A pistol grip. ‘‘(ii) A forward grip. ‘‘(iii) A folding, telescoping, or detachable stock. ‘‘(iv) A grenade launcher or rocket launcher. ‘‘(v) A barrel shroud. ‘‘(vi) A threaded barrel ‘‘(B) A semiautomatic rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than rounds, except for an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition. ‘‘(C) Any part, combination of parts, component, device, attachment, or accessory that is designed or functions to accelerate the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle but not convert the semiautomatic rifle into a machinegun.

There is also criteria for pistols and shotgun assault weapons as well as a ban list of guns by name. Standard capacity magazines are banned if greater than ten rounds.

There is a grandfather clause.

SEC. 3. RESTRICTIONS ON ASSAULT WEAPONS AND LARGE CAPACITY AMMUNITION FEEDING DEVICES. (a) IN GENERAL.—Section 922 of title 18, United States Code, is amended— (1) by inserting after subsection (u) the following: ‘‘(v)(1) It shall be unlawful for a person to import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess, in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, a semiautomatic assault weapon. (2) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to the possession, sale, or transfer of any semiautomatic assault weapon otherwise lawfully possessed under Federal law on the date of enactment of the Assault Weapons Ban of 2018.

I don't think the House has the votes to pass this bill. If it does make it to the Senate there will be an even bigger run on semi-auto rifles and magazines than I saw in 1994 after that AWB went to the Senate.

This is how Congress in the Trump era is going to promote the sale of more AR-15's.
