A number of recent news articles have highlighted the coming flip in the Sun's magnetic poles. Apparently, this is something that happens regularly over an 11 year cycle. Virtually every article I have seen or googled on the matter states that there will be a period of 'stormy solar weather'. Here is an example from the Christian Science Monitor.
Sadly I haven't yet seen one explaining what "stormy solar weather" means. Particularly intense Northern lights? Will the solar surf be up? Any one with the background to elucidate?
