BBC News: Red Bull pursues Redwell brewery in Norwich over name
In short, four friends start micro-brewery in Redwell Street, Norwich, England, UK (etc.), adopting - inevitably - the brand name "Redwell" for their modest output of ale and lager. The energy drink giant Red Bull objects, claiming that people will confuse the brewery's one-word moniker with their own two-word name, thus "tarnish[ing]" its (Red Bull's) image.
This seems more bizarre when you consider the number of competing energy drinks that - in the UK at least - sail a lot more obviously closer to Red Bull's name (e.g. Red Rooster, Red Devil, etc.) or packaging style (e.g. Blue Bolt).
Declaration of interests: I drink far more Red Bull than I probably should.
