I just bought the family a new Windows 10 PC for the living room. I've recently noticed most, if not all, new HDTV's have a computer monitor port on them, and my new computer has an HDMI output port as well as a standard monitor port. Now I'm wondering, since the cost is about the same for similar sized TV's and monitors, can I use a new, small (say 24") HDTV as the monitor, and the bigger question, would the HDMI cable provide sound too, or would it still require a separate set of speaker wires too? Orrr, would it still be better to get a monitor and powered speakers?
