Shut Off Amazon Sidewalk if you haven't already

If you have an Echo or Ring, or whatever other dumbass device Amazon has stolen from an up-and-coming tech company, shut off Amazon Sidewalk.

As with most things they do, Amazon comes up with another stupid idea that hasn't been thought through.

Quote:

If you have an Amazon Echo or Ring, chances are you're part of Amazon Sidewalk. This new service automatically switched on in your Echo speaker or Ring doorbell when Amazon lit up the feature last week. The purpose is to splinter off a tiny fraction of your internet bandwidth from these two devices to create a kind of neighborhood network that makes it possible to use Amazon gear slightly further afield.
It's like...networking 101 to never allow anyone on your network you don't know. Just opt out of it (instructions in the article). There is no downside to opting out, and if you feel like giving access to your network to random people simply turn it back on.

I wouldn't suggest it. I can't imagine any IT person suggesting it, but to each their own.
