The US is investigating the best way to deal with the thousands of unaccompanied minors who end up in immigration court. Some people, including tha ACLU, say the children have a right to a lawyer, but The Department of Justice disagrees. Some of the minors have a right to stay, but most will be appropriately deported. Virtually none of them understands that the things they say in court may make them ineligible to ever legally immigrate to the U.S.

"I've taught immigration law literally to 3 and 4-year-old children. It takes time. It takes a lot of patience. They get it. It is not the most efficient way, but it can be done."He was twice asked if that was what he meant to say and twice repeated the claim. He is not answering calls for interviews or statements.
