I'm new to smartphones and found a super cheap phone/plan setup at Wind. It limits me to 2 phones Huawei Ascend W1 vs. Alcatel Onetouch M'pop 5020T (I know they're older, clunkier models but I'm all about the cheap right now)
The lady scared me away from the Win8 phone (Huawei) saying that you "can't get as much stuff" as with an Android phone (Alcatel). But it looks like the Huawei Ascend W1 is a better device than the Alcatel Onetouch M'pop 5020T:

Smartphone: Ascend W1 vs. Onetouch 5020T
CPU: Dualcore 1.2Ghz vs. Singlecore 1.0GHz
Batt.: 1950mAh vs. 1400mAh
Screen: Resistive vs. Capacitive
Camera: Auto focus vs. Single focus
So is Win8 as "bad" as the lady said? Am I realistically limited with Win8 vs Android? Can I switch operating systems as easily as I do on my computer? Are there any "gotcha"s that a smartphone newb will run into?
I'm not a mega-user (at least not yet, ;)) so I'm looking forward to surfing, syncing up my calendar, accessing my hotmail, reading ebooks, taking HD video (720) and pics, putting in one of my 32G microSDs, hoping one of them will play .flac 'cause that what all my music is, ... I'm not a big phone TV or movie watcher ...
I think the geek waters run deep here and you might be reading this on ... your smartphone! So you Masters, what's your advice for this Grasshopper?
Thanks,
Cheers,
Jeff
