Living alone safely.

Inspired by another thread but important enough to be a separate line, IMHO.

If you had a stroke while living alone, who would come to help you and how long would it take for them to notice they should?

If you have none who would be concerned if you didn't contact them at least daily there are ways to make sure somebody does. I'll throw out two here, and hope other people will contribute their own ideas.

1. Ask the neighborhood watch folks to call or knock daily. (I suggest these folks as you may want to tell them where to find a key if they can't get a response at the door or on the phone.)

2. Meals-n-wheels. They come 2-3 times a day and if you don't answer the door they would be aware that there might be a problem.

BTW, I live with my wife, but my mother lived alone for a while, and my wife will probably out live me by a good long while.
