Question regarding the lot that the Towers were built on. We know they are owned by the Port Authority and leased to Silverstein for 99 years.
One popular, yet tired argument, is that Silverstein made out "like a bandit," with the insurance claim.
No amount of explaining to a truther how he received (recalling these amounts from memory) $4.7 billion from insurance, and cost to rebuild has cost over $6 billion I believe, will make them drop this.
My question is that Silverstein's monthly lease in the amount of $10 million - Did he have to continue to pay that amount for the entire period the lot was empty after the attacks?
Or would this situation fall under Force Majeure, absolving Silverstein of liability for a time? as I have seen some truthers try to argue this.
Please correct me if I am wrong on any points. Any insight is much appreciated.
