Regarding the recent surge in bills that would allow businesspeople to discriminate against other people citing "religious reasons" -- where in the bible are the specific verses that say you should not serve a "sinner" (I'll give them that latitude) breakfast? Or that you can't work for a sinner?
Basically, what I'm asking is this: can anyone point to the specific "rule" in Christianity that forbids believers from working for or hiring out to a perceived "sinner" ?
If pharmacists are allowed to refuse to dispense birth control pills to unmarried women, because their personal religion forbids sex out of wedlock -- what is the actual biblical basis for their complaint?
What passages in the bible are being used to define "personal religious beliefs" when it comes to serving gays?
I've been arguing with family members about this for a while, and all they can give me is "It says man shall not lie down with man, as with woman." Yes, I can read that. But where does it say "And ye shall not serve dinner to a man who lies down with a man." ?
If it's not actually IN the bible somewhere, then can't anybody make up ANYTHING and cite religious belief, and legally get away with it?
