So let's say that the general American presidential election was held tomorrow.
Would we really see that major of a difference in votes?
I've always had a sneaking suspicion that the election is for all practical purposes over except the waiting as soon as the two major parties announce their candidates.
I mean seriously is there anyone out there right now that is still on the fence? Is there really a statistically significant number of people that take another half year to make up their mind? Do we see either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump dropping some new bombshell between now and then that will make people chance their minds about them? Does anyone who supports Clinton or Trump honestly see any reasonably possible scenario in the campaign or at a debate or in a political ad that is actually going to change your mind?
I get a feeling that the post nomination election cycle is largely a wizard duel where the people in the know already largely figured out who is gonna win, but keep the show going largely for political fundraising and networking purposes.
