I always ask Christians this simple question. It has to deal with the nature of perfection and free will. I point out to Christians that according to their own religious tradition, their god has created two failed universes.
The first failed universe was created when god created his angels. This universe was originally perfect, but failed after god created an angel named Lucifer who had free will. He became jealous of god and envied his power. He stirred up the heavens and gathered a significant following. God then cast Lucifer into the fiery abyss where he and his followers remain until this day.
The second failed universe is the present universe in which god created man and instructed him not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. According to them Satan tempted Eve to eat the fruit, yadda yadda yadda.
We all know the story if we're in this section. The point is, if God has created two universes, and if each universe failed, what makes Christians think that god creating a third universe will work? People will still have free will. With free will people can choose to commit acts of "good" or "evil". What will prevent another Satan from arising? I find this situation very difficult to explain.
