Democrats could have passed this in 2009 or 2010.
It provided a path to citizenship for most law-abiding illegals in the USA, after paying a fine and staying law-abiding in the USA for 8 years and then applying for a Green Card while outside the USA.
It added 20,000 new Border Patrol agents.
It added 300 miles of border fencing.
It created a guest worker program for recent illegals.
It limited family unification Visas to just spouse and children.
This would have been a good compromise, that didn't guarantee ANYONE here illegally citizenship or a Green Card. They had to pay a fine, pay back taxes, stay law-abiding, and leave the country to apply for a Green Card.
But, the Democrats focused on other things, the ACA, which is about to become toast.
Nice job, Democrats.
