Some mumbling

As i said some mumbling.

We all know smokers are evil. They spend our tax money on treating them.
Also, we know that in many countries their number has gone down significantly.

That's good because:

the country that reduced the number of smokers has laid off 1,000 leg-amputating surgeons. That's a saving of , say 50,000x1,000 per year, say, dollars (just a designation). 5,000,000 saved.

Nurses. We need them much less. Lay off 10,000 of them. A saving of at least
15,000,000.

Wait, we can spare on pipettes, scalpels etc. Add some millions.

We need less rooms in hospitals. Let's rent them out to offices. A few moremillions of income.

So, could someone lead me to data about the reduced costs of healthcare in recent years (NHS budget and the like; NO, don't bother, I know they are steadily rising).

How I like this playing around with numbers. When somebody dies at the age of 40, the state says - they"cost us" (???) EUR 500,000. Well, no, they saved you 20,000 in benefits and 250,000 in pension.
