Mars at Opposition from Sun - May 21-22

Ruddy Mars will be out all night when in opposition to the Sun during the night of May 21-22 at magnitude -2.1 (similar to the current brightness of Jupiter.) Mars’ closest approach to Earth for this synodic cycle will occur on May 30 at 0.5032 AU while subtending an angular diameter of 18.6 arcseconds.
