(There is much more in the article than this snippet….)

Quote:

1. California legislators are pushing to limit people's ability to opt out of vaccines, with a bill passing through the state Senate on Thursday.

2. The bill, SB277, would change the law so that people could no longer refuse to get vaccines for religious or philosophical reasons. School-age children could still invoke medical exemptions.

3. The bill was a response to a large measles outbreak that originated at a California Disney theme park in December. Since then, more than 160 people across the US have been diagnosed with the disease (and the majority of them reside in California).

4. The bill faces fierce opposition from anti-vaccine campaigners and must still head to the California assembly and be signed into law.

The bill requires kids to get vaccinated unless they have a medical exemption
