Those familiar with process modeling should know what I mean, but basically:
I'd like to create a series of diagrams which are linked in an interactive way much like many of the process modeling/CASE tools do now, ie you have a higher-level graphic on the page, click on it (double-click, whatever) and it shows you a breakdown, or next level down (aka "decomposition") of whatever that thing is...and then each of those pieces you can click on similarly. Ideally, each graphic should also have some kind of database behind it.
Cost is a factor ($4-5K tools aren't happening), not sure exactly where the cutoff would be...really probably anything $1K or more per person is unlikely.
Oh and I emphasize the word GRAPHIC here....we don't want just boxes and wires. Ideally would like to be able to import or use any graphic (JPG etc). Also there's no interest to use it to create code, databases (beyond perhaps a basic one behind each object), do any process modeling, etc etc. This is going to be more of an information conveying, perhaps training kind of thing.
Anyone got anything? Some digging turned up stuff like Enterprise Architect, Rational System Architect (the latter eliminated due to cost), etc. I see there are some free ones out there as well.
Anyone?
