The unforgiven

I used towork with a woman whose niece had been raped when she was five. The child lived in a duplex next the perp. One day her mother left her alone for awhile. The guy in the other duplex was high on drugs and he broke in and raped the child.

The child survived the rape and the man was arrested, tried and convicted of multiple counts and given a life sentence. However there was a chance for parole.

Ok its been over forty years and the victim has multiple health issues connected to her injuries from the rape. She can never have children and other female organs were damaged beyond repair. SHe was almost killed.

The parole board lets her be present during parole hearings. Each time the now middle aged woman brings in her medical records and apparently shes developed other problems as she aged as a direct result of her assault. She has not forgiver her rapist. He was still in prison after thirty something years of incarcertaion. He'll be up for parole in two years. His victim plans to be there.

The parole board has said that since his behaviour in prison has been excellant they would consider giving him parole if his victim wasn't so adamant against it.

Should he be released ever?
