What happens if I click "Yes" in e-mails for event invitations from Facebook?

Sometimes I get invitations to Facebook events in my e-mail inbox, with a link to accepting the invitation directly in the e-mail. I'm just wondering, if I click on the link to accept an invitation in the e-mail inbox, will Facebook take that as me attending straight away, or will it prompt me to sign into Facebook first? I don't want to accidently accept invitations to events I'm not going to attend.
