Ok.... I haven't been following the German election all that much and just read a bit on it today. So I will start off with a bit of a disclaimer. I'm pretty right wing. I can't see me ever voting for the green party as I think too many of them are nuts and on too many issues I just don't support them. BUT...... I generally like the green parties around the world. I like their presence. I'm glad when their voice is in the debate. I like that there is a party out there that looks out for the treatment of animals and the preservation of the environment.
Now... with that said... I had a bit of a chuckle when reading about the German Green party and their decades old stance on pedophilia. That is as part of their early platforms they advocated legalizing some forms of pedophilia... basically non-forced sex with children.
I realize that surely no one in the current party would support such a thing..... but this stance will haunt them forever. It's a wining response to any argument. It can always be thrown back in their faces..... I'm sure all parties have some past policy that they regret and can be thrown in their faces..... But I can't think of a more regrettable stance, that would look worst then that.
Anyway...... I think the party just has to fold...... start up a new party with basically the same modern policies and go from there.
Support pedophilia is just not worth the effort to bounce back from.
