Do black cars heat up very badly in the sun?

I imagine they do, after all black surfaces tend to heat up a lot in sunlight.



I'm looking at a black car, but my wife says we'll be spending our holidays in Southern Europe being cooked in our vehicle.



It's obviously not much of an issue here up north.



Science? Experiences? Sales figures from hot countries?
