I'ts over 100f today, and I'm sitting in my AC, with very little clothing on.
Which got me to thinking about wearing one of those skimpy shirts called a 'wife beater'. Said name is supposedly from the 'Cops' show where in the perps in so many of the domestic assault calls were wearing what became known as a 'wife beater'. Because is is HOT when they lose their tempers.
And the other recent threads here about how crime rates rise during heat waves, and how rioting is a summer sport.
My Light bulb came on- the lowered crime rates of the last decade or two are not caused by lower lead poisoning rates, or better social programs, but by cheaper air conditioners.
Any body want to google up a graph of Freon production vs violent crime rates? Or census figures of 'households with AC' ?
eta: Maybe, instead of sending Drones to Syria, we ought to send window mount AC units? ;)
