I've seen various claims that there is "fear mongering" from "the media", and it seems what is considered "fear mongering" depends on who is looking at the exact same story.
I like science because it is the opposite of "fear mongering", but realize that unless we have the real facts, science is not going to help. How do you judge something as "fear mongering", as opposed to reporting the facts, and letting people decide what to fear?
Do you think the media resorts to "fear mongering" to increase circulation? Does it help or hurt them? And do you consider science more important than fear?
