The Nostalgia Critic posted an editorial about the why we lie to kids about Santa, and whether we should do it.

I think he, possibly inadvertently, makes a good point about skepticism. It's not about teaching people critical thinking as the primary game plan. (People can be great critical thinkers against something they feel no need to believe). It's about teaching people that discovering the truth behind a falsehood does not have to mean the world is less magical or trust worthy, that the wonder can even continue in its own way afterward. It's about making people strong enough to DEAL with discovering a lie.
