Are gay bible stories obscene?

So, the setup: there is a play being exhibited in Oklahoma called "The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told." Produced by a small not for profit theater group it basically retells Bible stories in a humorous manner and part of this means including campy gay characters.

And, in turn, a group of pastors are trying to get the play banned on the grounds that it is obscene.

“It is quite possible that this production meets the definition of obscenity and might be in violation of federal and state obscenity laws.”

In addition to that a group called America Needs Fatima are organizing a public rosary because I guess the play necessitates mass symbolic repentance.

Join our public Rosary of Reparation against the blasphemous play 'The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told' scheduled to show as “holiday fare” at the Kalita Humphreys Theater in Dallas, TX, on December 8...

Oh, that sounds just lovely.

At this point I'll mention that the wife of the leader of this event once declared homosexuality to be more dangerous to society than terrorism.
