UK introduces £50 fine for in-car smoking when kids are aboard.

'Kids' being under-18s. And rolling down the windows or opening a sunroof will be be no defence. Police, it seems, will start with a light-touch approach, probably just issuing friendly warnings at first.

I foresee health benefits coming from less passive smoking and also as grumpy-in-the-morning parents direct their kids towards walking and cycling to get to school, somewhat offset by increased exposure to road fumes.
