Loyalty Oaths in the USA.

It may come as a surprise to many that parts of the USA require loyalty oaths to be sworn for public employees and indeed employees of certain companies. The issue is in the news again because of the principled refusal of the writer James Sallis to sign the oath while working as a creative writing teacher at Phoenix College in Arizona.
