So our locally-produced PBS show, "St. Louis Talks", just interviewed Senator Roy Blunt, the Republican congressman from hereabouts.
Rather amazing. Blunt was ragging on about how we had Iraq "pacified" and then Obama "abandoned" the Iraqis and led to this whole mess....
Hmm.... I seem to recall that niggling little business about the "status of forces"agreement where Maliki would not agree to have US forces in the country unless they were subject to Iraqi law.
Since no US president, Republican or Democrat, would agree to such a situation the troops came out and now Iraq is stewing in it's own juices.
Sure, we could have just occupied the country for an indefinite period and essentially abandoned all notion of the Iraqis governing themselves...
