I have been present on a lecture by a popular Russian evolutionist. He said he is a pessimist when it comes to our civilization's future, because the lack of natural selection increases greatly the prevalence of bad mutations in the population and in a dozen generations we might be doomed.
He did not force it as a scientific fact, only as his personal understanding, but I decided to ask around - is this really a serious concern and we are doomed as a civilization (obviously, not as a species), or is he overdoing it a little?
