The Old Testament says that the Messiah will be born from the stem of Jesse, and that was King David. That is why the writers of the gospels placed the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem in order to fulfill the prophecy. But Jesus was supposedly given birth to by a virgin impregnated by the Holy Ghost so Jesus would have had nothing to do with the stem of Jesse. How do believers reconcile this? Is it a form of doublethink or haven't they read the Bible while awake?
