It's a pretty important distinction that a lot of people seem to forget. It might the the case in a country like the US that a lot of atheists are former believers and left their religions due to a process of critical thinking. But in more secular cultures, atheism probably has a very weak correlation with skepticism.
The chairman of the Swedish Humanist Association is the only sane, skeptical person in that room...
