Recently a Facebook friend promoted a video from Paul Hellyer, former Canadian Minister of Defense (in the 1960s), who said there are aliens living amongst us and working with the US Government. From what I've read about the guy, Paul Hellyer recently began believing in aliens in 2005 after watching a UFO Special and reading the book "The Day After Roswell". That he never claims to have inside knowledge, no confidential government information....he read a book and talked to UFO "experts" and then accused George W. Bush of plotting an "Intergalactic War". Hellyer is also a 9/11 Truther.
Later in the conversation this friend stated that he did not believe we evolved from "monkeys" but that he believes we came from aliens (and not single-celled organisms, actual bipedal aliens). He says that there is a "very large group" of scientists that believe that modern humans are way older than "mainstream scientists" lead us to believe, that humans are millions of year old and that modern human bones have been found alongside ape-like bones (that scientists claim we evolved from) and even dinosaur bones!
Then he tells me to read "Forbidden History", by J. Douglas Kenyon. Although I have not read any of his books, I'm well aware of who he is and that his books are a romp in the world of pseudoscience. It's presented as scientific fact, with no valid scientific method and containing very little evidence.
He continued to argue that modern human bones have been found alongside dinosaurs and that it gets covered up. He claims that any scientists that tries to disprove human evolution is shunned and labeled "new age"...their grants are taken away and tenure at colleges is revoke and they are silenced because no one wants them to "rock to boat". He also said has tons of books to back up his claim...but then couldn't name a single scientist in the "large group of scientists" or a single book off the top of his head (other than "Forbidden History").
Keep in mind, he's claiming that bipedal, humanoid aliens came to Earth millions of years ago, before or during the age of dinosaurs...lived here alongside of dinosaurs and then evolved into modern humans. And that thousands of scientists...archaeologists, biologists, chemists, etc...are engaged in a massive coverup of the true human origins via aliens.
After a day of arguing with him (and his friend who didn't share his aliens evolved into humans theory, but believes most of what is seen on History Channel's Ancient Aliens is true), I decided I had wasted enough time and walked away. We were obviously at an impasse...they would rather take the word of authors and amateurs over that of real scientists and real science, even when presented with evidence that debunks their theories. It was all just a lot of pseudoscience, pseudoarchaeology, and pseudohistory wrapped in a big blanket of stupid.
But my question to you all is....have any of you heard of this theory?
And what books would he be reading that has him completely convinced that aliens lived alongside dinosaurs and later evolved into modern humans? Because this was the first time I have heard such a theory.
