I would like for anyone to either confirm or refute the following about Islam and rape. I have read a lot about Islam and am pretty confident that the following is indeed the truth, but I am always open to argument.
It is my understanding that Sharia law doesn't view rape as an issue or a thing at all. Either sexual intercourse takes place within marriage or it doesn't. If it takes place within the marriage, it is permitted. If it doesn't, then it is prohibited. Whether the sexual intercourse is voluntary among all involved parties doesn't even enter into it as far as Sharia law is concerned. This is the case with both married couples (there are hadiths saying that if a husband wants to have sex with any of his wives (or his slave girls) then she must comply with that wish, not wanting is not a legitimate option) as well as those unmarried.
Can some confirm or deny this? I'm not interested what particular random Muslim countries' law say, I'm interested in what Sharia law says.
