Here is the trailer for Tyson's remake of Cosmos. My first reaction was "Gawd, what a disaster." So tonight I watch the original to calibrate my first reaction. My second reaction is "Gawd, could the remake be worse?"
If the trailer really does reflect the remake I won't watch it. Carl combined poetry, science and the technology of his day to create one of the great popularizations of science ever. Tyson appears to have lost Carl's scientific beauty in the quest for an ET star ship. Too bad - Tyson is one of the best of his time at bringing science to the lay audience. This effort is an abject failure.
