Is my gold crown electroplating my amalgam fillings?
Flossing my teeth the other day, I notice my mouth full of amalgam fillings seem to have a gold sheen to them.
I find much info/misinformation that says the gold will free up the mercury from the amalgam, causing much woo to ensue. But if my mouth chemistry is plating the gold onto the amalgam, that would mean the mercury is getting sealed in, it's the gold that is being exported.
Net search has been no help. it all centers on how a gold crown will lead to evaporation of mercury, but I doubt that is happening, it looks to me that gold is moving to the amalgam.
Is my mouth reverse polarity? Acid/base saliva? I've been drinking more OJ these days... Hmm, I think I have some pH sticks for homebrewing... I'll be back...
