In a parking lot in Salem, Oregon, a 59-year-old man pulled a pistol on two 17-year-old boys on Sunday and told them to get ready to die. According to the Oregonian, however, a motorcyclist whizzed by at just the right time and knocked the weapon from the gunmans hands without ever stopping or identifying himself. On Sunday, the teenagers were crossing Center Street in Salem when Edward Francis West shouted at them from his truck to get out of the road. The boys shouted back and West pulled into a parking lot and confronted them, slapping one of the teenagers in the face. West then went to his truck and retrieved a pistol, which he aimed at the boys and said, Get ready to die! Then, according to Marion County Sheriffs Department records, a man on a green motorcycle rode up and used his helmet to knock the gun out of Wests hands, giving the boys time to run away. Neither West nor the boys got a good look at the motorcyclist, who has not come forward. The sheriffs office did not release the boys names, but said that West was taken into custody and charged with harassment, menacing, assault and unlawful use of a weapon. |
