Anyone used to dealing with Tumblr here?

Okay, so for some background, I use Tumblr for web-blogging for my personal organization (Benji's Closet, username benjiscloset). It's an organization based on South Florida supporting and educating transgender and other LGB+ individuals. Tumblr, overall, seemed like a good idea. It's simple to use (especially in regard to multiple moderators), the posts spread exponentially, the our target audience practically lives there, and it doesn't require me to post a large amount of original content to retain subscribers.

However, the website design itself is getting more and more terrible, and it's started to negatively affect our expansion. The layout for our page is fine, in my opinion. However, when using Tumblr, I've experienced a good amount of lag (a problem when you have several dozen messages a day to answer) and the website designers seem to be shooting themselves repeatedly in the foot in regards to how they make changes. It's so bad that there are multiple third-party applications that have been developed (that a majority of those who frequent the website use) to fix the Tumblr's problem.

My question is this. I really don't know how to address this. I've been expanding this blog for almost five months now and we have 6k subscribers. We've also created a forum supported by advertising to address the lag issues and boost subscriptions.

I kind of want to leave, but I don't really know where else to find my audience.
