My local newspaper misunderstands Atheism

There was article in today's Newsday on how similar and different Atheists and Theists are, Below are some excerpts:

"Atheists and Theists seem similar on that they both believe in a proof for or against the existence of god"

Not so, I simply reject the assertion a god exists due to the lack of evidence for it.

If too far is preventing junk like creationism from being taught in schools, so be it.

The fundamental Theist mistake is the belief that the absence of proof for The Flying Spaghetti Monster is a proof for The Flying Spaghetti Monster's absence.
