The Easterlings (inhabitants of Rhûn, east of Mordor) and the Haradrim (inhabitants of Harad, south of Mordor) are two nations in LOTR that fight on the side of Sauron. Yet unlike the others fighting for Sauron, they are not orcs or trolls, but two human nations.
Is there any explanations in the LOTR lore as to why they chose to fight for Sauron? I have encountered various descriptions. One is that they were enslaved by Sauron and forces to fight for him. Another is that they worship Sauron as their god-king, and that they are among his most fanatical followers (note that those explanations contradict each other). Yet others claim that they had an age-old rivalry with Gondor, and that Sauron promised the lands of Gondor for them in exchange for their allegiance (I wonder if Sauron intends to keep his promise). In the case of Rhûn, at least one of the Nazguls (Khamul the Easterling) was an Easterling king, and it has been claimed that his people still follow him, even in his Nazgul shape.
Is there any more detailed information available? Some of these claims are compatible, obviously. But some are not.
