Youtube won't load

I have an Acer Aspire One notebook w/windows 8. Came w/IE. I made Chrome my default browser. Till yesterday youtube was working fine. Last night youtube wouldn't load whatsoever. I did a "Refresh" of op system. "Refresh" doesn't delete any personal files or change my settings (as opposed to restoring system to earlier point in time or as opposed to a "Reset" which removes everything & installs Windows 8.)

Now 9 out of 10 youtube vids don't even begin to load or they play for first 5 seconds or so & stall. Maybe 1 of 10 vids play OK. Doesn't matter whether I'm on Chrome or IE. I double clicked on the youtube screen & tried all the stuff they recommend, like going down to 144p or using the auto feature to get the right "p" number, clearing browsing data, closing all other tabs. No change.

I looked under control panel for all my programs, the ones you can uninstall, but Adobe Flash Player isn't there. However, I went on an Adobe website that said I had the latest flash player already installed. (I know Chrome browser continually installs latest flash player version.)

Under security I see there are 61 important updates I can install, but they are going to be installed automatically in the near future. should I just go ahead & install them? I'm thinking more & more that this is the solution.

Any suggestions?
