As far as I understand it, telepathy allows people to 'read' the mind of another person, or transmit information directly.
Looking at twitter/mobile phones it is possible for me to kinda know what someone is thinking of at various points in time. With images/video connections added to that I also have a pretty good idea what they are looking at.
Google glass will soon enable me to directly see these things popping up even without the need to actively look at a phone or computer.
Research is being done in the ability to 'read' an image from your mind using MRI and the ability to control computer interfaces with your mind directly.
So it doesn't seem to be too unlikely that in the (near) future I'd be able to transmit data directly to anyone with an open connection similar to mine.
Personally I wonder how long that's going to take. My guess would be 10-15 years, but that might be overstating it already.
